Georgia:

We trained social workers on policy planning, patients 'rights and advocacy. The training enhanced social workers' capacity to understand the country's laws on patients' rights and identify issues important to the public on their rights. Many of the social workers became patient's advocates and became employed by various NGO and advocacy groups. We worked with Georgian stakeholders to develop a comprehensive cancer control policy using capacity assessment survey and World Health Organization Cancer Control Modules. Subsequently, we co-edited the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) policy that brought public awareness, better government budget planning and a series of train the trainer workshops for academicians, health providers and hospital administrators.
